Almost every other inquiry received by promotional gifts suppliers seems to be from a company in the food industry. Restaurants, food suppliers, wine and merchants, good food organisations, you name it, if you are connected with the catering industry in any way, you need to promote yourself. Promotional catering supplies can do just that. Following is a list of some of the most popular catering products for promotion and how some companies have used them.

1. Plastic drinkware. You name it, the shape you need is probably available and in stock. Plastic disposable glasses may not be the most eco friendly of products but they are still very popular. There are plastic drink containers in all of the most used shapes from wine glasses to pint beer glasses, tumblers to Champagne glasses. They are all available and can be printed with your logo and details. One Real Ale organisation in the UK recently order several thousand plastic beer glasses printed with their logo for a large outdoor beer festival. They were expecting several thousand attendees so normal glasses were not an option.

2. Card coasters. You have probably seen these in your local pub. Card coasters can be printed in full colours and are very inexpensive. The before mentioned real ale organisation also placed an order for promotional card coasters which they placed on all the tables to further promote their organisation.

3. Plastic cocktail sticks with matching paper cocktail Napkins. These products go great together. Many bars use them to promote themselves. Drinks suppliers also have them printed to promote their products. If you have a bar or restaurant you are trying to promote, don’t forget the logo printed cocktail napkins and cocktail sticks. They will really help build your brand.

4. Promotional Pens. It is difficult to find a restaurant of bar that does not have promotional pens about the place. Promotional pens are popular because there are used daily in the food catering business both by staff and customers. Pens are also available in many different colour combination’s. Many can be Pantone matched and or mix-n-matched to matched to match your company colours. Print them with your logo and details and they are sure to get your name around.

Dan Toombs is the Managing Director of CompuGift Limited, the UK’s first internet based promotional gift supplier. The company was established in 1997 and is a leading supplier of promotional business gifts to businesses in the UK and Europe.

CompuGift’s popular promotional pens website features a large range of promotional pens that can be printed or engraved with your logo and details.

This Christmas a lot of people rewarded themselves with a new 1080p HDTV. Sure it is possible to use your existing DVD player or get a shiny new Blu-ray player to use with your new TV. But what is really the best media player for your new system?

Some say an HD media player would be the best choice. These are the size of an external hard drive and play audio and video from USB storage media. There are many different brands to choose from but for an example we’ll use the popular WD TV HD Media Player by Western Digital.

With this device you can play content from any connected USB drive in full HD 1080p with DTS 2.0 digital sound. It plays most audio and video formats and allows you to browse and organize your files from the easy to use interface. You can also transfer and organize files from a digital camera or camcorder. In order to use the media player an additional USB hard drive is required. The unit itself does not come with storage capacity. By using external drives the storage capacity is unlimited. There are many other HD Media Players with similar features.

The newer models also come with streaming media. There are many different brands that offer streaming HD, including D-Link, ASUS, MvixUSA, and Buffalo Link Theater. So what is streaming media? Streaming media is a player with an Internet connection. Some use an Ethernet connection and some are wireless. Either way this should allow us to access all of the media on our computers and network and organize, play, and view files.

So what can we do with these players? We can stream movies and TV shows that we have downloaded from the Internet, as well as watch You Tube videos, listen to our music files, listen to Internet radio, and view our photos and videos on the large screen. If we are entertaining we can set up a cool media show on our set to play in the background, no more burning log DVDs. In the future these devices should continue to improve but for now these are inexpensive and a great way to organize and enjoy your media collection.

Find out more about HD Media Players and the latest WD TV Live HD Media Player at our site.

There are many types of toys which can also be used for fitness, be it to exercise the muscles, increase aerobic activity or both. Toys that provide exercise do not need to be boring, far from it so this article gives some ideas of what to look for on the internet for a great toy, great fun and good for you and your children to.

Not many people have heard of these but the Powerball is very popular, and growing each day when friends see them, want a go and get addicted to this spinning gyro. The Powerball is a ball about the same size as a tennis ball and contains no batteries (apart from the LCD Screen) but can spin over 10,000 revolutions a minute for those who have practise spinning one.

They spin in your hand producing GForce which passes to your wrist, arms and muscles and great for toning or rehabilitation if you are an adult and suffer for RSI. The fun factor comes in with the Pro varieties which come with a LCD display which shows how fast you are spinning your powerball.

This is where the addictiveness comes in as family and friends attempt to beat each others scores which is actually very hard once you get to a certain spin speed due to the GForce. The Pro version can also come in a Neon variety which provides neon glowing lights when it spins so looks fantastic in low lighting or the dark.

The Powerball is a great indoor toy for fun and fitness but for outdoors, you cannot beat the trampoline. The trampoline can be found to come from many different manufacturers although Jumpking Trampolines are one of the most popular throughout the world.

Trampolines can come in many different sizes from 6ft to 16ft with shapes including round, rectangular and Oval which has now become a very popular variety due to the Jumpking Oval JumpPOD.

For fun, they cannot be beaten outdoors with children bouncing up in the air and squealing with excitement. Even though the Jumppad and springs produce most of the inertia to bounce, it still takes some effort to start, keep controlled and slow down. Overtime this means the children, or adults come to that are receiving excellent exercise and tone up in just a few weeks.

The best thing about these two toys, is children do not realise they are exercising, especially important on the trampoline as this also improves coordination, stamina, lung capacity and confidence. The Powerball not as much on the fitness front but still has excellent benefits for keeping joints loose, especially if they sit hunched on their favourite games console for hours at a time with a control pad in their hands.

Rob Stone writes many articles on childrens toys including outdoor toys such as Oval Jumpking Trampolines, climbing frames and playhouses.

The York C302 cycle is around 100 more than the C301 and on first look doesn’t appear to offer much more. However, when you look a little closer you can see the difference.

York C302 Cycle Review
By Roy Palmer

On the first viewing the York C302 cycle looks very similar in specification and styling to the York C301 except it’s around £100 more. So is it worth the extra? When you look again you start to see the differences that we think does justify the price over its little brother.

The C302 has a more comfortable riding position than the C301 with more adjustable positions, much better handles with an addition of racing style grips, arm rests and a superior console with a bigger displays. The console has 5 LED windows to keep you informed of all your workout data such as distance, calories, speed, heart rate etc. The buttons are a little small but we didn’t have any problems using them.

There are 22 pre-set programmes that range from the gentle warm-up to the very challenging so it should keep you going for many years. The 4 heart rate programmes are based on your age and alter speed targets and resistance levels to keep your pulse in the optimum zone for fitness and fat-burning. You can also design your own custom programme and use the fitness test to monitor your progress.

You can measure your heart rate by either the grips on the handles or using a chest strap (not included) with the built-in polar chip in the console which is far more accurate than the grips. Another extra is the ability to record the workout data of up to 4 different users which is handy if the whole family trying to get fit.

As with all York machines you can feel the quality and they seem to add those extras that make daily use easier such as a bottle holder, towel holder (behind the saddle) and transport wheels. The warranty is a great 3 year parts and labour cover so you can get an idea of their confidence in the bike.

Conclusion:
Another quality bike from York with a great solid feel and riding position. Worth the extra cost of the York C301 in our view.

Roy Palmer is a teacher of The Alexander Technique and has studied performance enhancement in sport for the last 10 years.
Digital Cameras Make Great Large Format Scanners!
By Rick Rucker

Do not go out and spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars just because you need to copy large documents or images. Chances are, you already own something that will do the job as well, or better than a scanner. Your digital camera will capture images that you can do instantly, at home.

Scanners are very precise pieces of equipment, and very expensive. They cost so much because, as their name suggests, they “scan” an image to capture it. When your eyes “scan” the horizon, they are moving. Just like that, in a scanner something has to move, either the image that is being copied, or the part that reads the image. If that movement is not very well controlled, the copy will be blurry or distorted. This level of motion control is very expensive.

A digital camera works much differently, it takes a picture of the whole image at one time. A camera uses lenses to take in a large amount of visual information, and focus it onto a small area that records it. Every part of the image is in correct reference to every other part, there is not any distortion.

There are a few things that you have to do to make sure that your camera records a good image, though:

- If the camera shakes at all, the whole image will be fuzzy.
- The camera has to be at right angles to the object being copied.
- You will need more light to record a crisp image. Use a “document” setting if your camera has one.
- You will need to manipulate the recorded image to make it usable.

The first two concerns can be eliminated by using a tripod. The lighting can be as simple as a floodlight bouncing light off a wall or a ceiling to provide a sharp, well defined picture.

The software is even easier, it is available, for free, on the internet. Just go on Google, and type in “free digital photo software.” Choose one that is open source, and therefore totally free! You will need it to crop, adjust lighting levels, and adjust the size of the image to your needs. Almost any graphics program will handle it all, with no problems.

With these tips, and a little practice, you will soon be making “scans” at home, for free!

Rick Rucker is a pen and ink artist who lives in Southern California with his wife of over thirty years.
Electronic Design in 2009
By Nick Schofield

Electronic designs in 2009 are following current trends of smaller more powerful electronics. The goal is to make virtually anything, small enough for it to be completely portable and as technology advances there is no reason why it should not change from phones and mp3 players to a wide selection of various media electronic devices, the smaller the better. The actual PCB circuit boards in some of these electronics are so small though that there is no real way to repair them.

However, as technology advances, the prices for these smaller and more powerful electronic devices drop. While the prices have not fallen significantly enough for the devices to be considered disposable, within time they just may. Keep in mind though that this is a long ways off and for 2009 you can expect many great, sleek and very powerful designs when it comes to a plethora of popular electronics.

On the computer front, there are several great laptops that are under development already; or shall we say palm tops – or infact, netbooks which look very cute and pleaing to the eye but not so pleasing to the hand! While not exactly PDAs, they are getting smaller and more powerful. Take the recent trends from both Acer as well as Asus; smaller, cheaper yet not letting go of too many of the features of larger laptops other then keyboard and screen sizes. So keep an eye out this year as newly designed electronics are unveiled at the major expos around the globe.

PCB Design Service

PCB Layout Design Service

A Samsung LED DLP HDTV Should Be Your Next HDTV
By Jeffrey Norris

If you’re considering a television purchase in the near future, you should take a serious look at a Samsung LED DLP HDTV.

Although plasma technology has been very popular for a number of years, that’s about to change. Vizio, which was the second largest supplier of plasma screens in the US, announced in the second quarter of 2009 that they would discontinue manufacturing plasma sets altogether. Obviously, the home television market will be DLP and LCD.

Samsung LED DLP HDTV models have overcome the few small problems associated with previous versions of all DLP (digital light processing) televisions.

One complaint of some DLP (rear projector) sets in the past, was the anomaly known as the ‘rainbow effect.’ This was brief flashes of perceived red, blue, and green “shadows” observed most often when the projected content featured high contrast areas of moving bright/white objects on a mostly dark/black background. The scrolling end credits of many movies are a common example, and also in animations where moving objects are surrounded by a thick black outline. Without trying to understand the technical aspects of the cause, the main thing to understand is, it was associated with the spinning ‘color wheel’ that was a component of previous versions of Texas Instrument’s incredible DLP technology. In the recent Samsung LED DLP HDTV models there is no color wheel, hence no ‘rainbow effect.’

Also, one other drawback to previous DLP sets was the fact that they used high powered lamps as the light source. Not only did these lamps draw a significant current, making them costly to operate, but the the lamps also needed to be replaced every few years. The costs for replacement was usually in the several hundred dollar range.

The new Samsung LED DLP HDTV models do not have the issue of lamp replacement. Since they use an LED (light emitting diode) light source, there will never be any lamps to replace. The LED engine will last the life of the television (and them some). Also, since LEDs are solid-state devices, they draw very little current when compared to the previous lamps, they are therefore much cheaper (up to 40%!!) to operate.

Combine those features with the fact that the Samsung LED DLP HDTV offerings also have a much broader color gamut, and are up to 40% brighter, and you have technology that is near perfection. That’s why the DLP system is now being used in professional movie theaters.

This writer still owns an Hitachi DLP HDTV which has been extremely reliable and still has an awesome picture, but when compared to any Samsung LED DLP HDTV model, the differences become obvious. Although I will keep the Hitachi for a bedroom, I decided on a new Samsung LED DLP HDTV a couple of months ago. I can guarantee that you won’t regret your decision to buy a Samsung LED DLP HDTV.

For just a small fraction of what an average plasma cost a few years ago, you can now have a theater-quality HDTV in your living room. If you’re going with a larger screen, maybe over about 55″, I would definitely recommend a Samsung LED DLP HDTV, although their current LCD line is impressive also.

For more information on the Samsung LED DLP HDTV models, and to see all of the best led TV listings, head over to Best LED TV.

Inevitably, the razor E100 electric scooter is selling well this Christmas. There is no doubt this will top all kids most wanted items on Santa’s list. The razor scooter brings around a unique style and boasts many great features that I will shortly discuss.

The razor E100 electric scooter hails from the razor corporation, which have been renowned for their creativity and safety. This scooter is chain driven with a nifty twist grip throttle. The scooter is renowned for its safety. I have to admit when I first bought this for my 8 year old child I was quite sceptical to the dangers it could pose. However, my fear were quickly over come by the sheer unique style and ease at which any child can use this.

It is also important to note that the E100 needs a manual kickoff to 3 miles per hour for the scooter to start. This is nothing really but it is worth noting.

The scooter has been deemed suitable for children eight and above with a weight capacity at 120 pounds. The scooter also comes with 12-volt batteries and everything you will need to kick start your kids dream toy. The best thing about buying this electric scooter is the fact you have reassurance that there is a 90-day warranty. So if there are any problems you can get a replacement no questions asked. Another thing to take into account when buying, is that all regulations need to be considered when riding.

The scooter is powerful with speeds of 10 m/hr easily achieved. This is an enjoyable speed, yet ensures your kids safety. There is no doubt the razor e100 electric scooter will be on your childrens wish list this Christmas.

Click Here to get the best deals and discounts on all the Razor E100 electric scooter range.

Razor electric scooters take no gas to operate, they are safe for the environment, and easily recharged for minimal electrical cost from a household outlet. When looking for a great gift that is fun and practical, consider the Razor E200 Scooters one of the most affordable choices.

Razor E200 Scooters – Is This Electric Scooter Any Good?
By Ed Jamison

Different Sizes for Different Riders

Razor electric scooters come in different models. Some are sit-down models such as Razor’s E300S and E500S. Others, like the Razor E200 scooters are stand-up riding models, which can make the ride more fun and challenging. The E200 has adjustable handle bars to accommodate all sizes of riders and can hit speeds up to 12 miles per hour, which is safe enough for balancing and not so slow to hinder traffic. With 45 minutes per battery charge, it is the perfect scooter for ages 12 on up, to go visit their friends in the neighborhood, or ride to the corner store.

Affordable and Fun For All Ages

Razor E200 scooters have a full size deck to stand on, so it can handle riders of all sizes, safely. With a weight limit capacity of 220 pounds, it can accommodate larger children and adults, too. It is one of the more affordable Razor electric scooters, and some are listed on the Internet for less than $200, which makes it a great gift.

Scooters are a great alternative transportation mode for short trips, and the Razor E200 scooters are lightweight at 45 pounds, so it is easy to pack in the trunk of the car for trips to the park or vacations.

Scooters in the sit-down models, which end in S, (for seated) are more costly, and some riders think they seem more awkward than models like the Razor E200 scooters. Since the sit-down models are more expensive, (most start at over $200 and up), stand-up scooters are still very popular, especially with younger riders.

Well-equipped for Smoother Riding

This scooter comes with a sturdy, double-welded frame, extra-large pneumatic tires, auto-adjusting chain tension, twist throttle for higher torque, a hand-operated rear brake and a pair of 12-volt batteries. The pneumatic tires give you a smoother ride and the hand-operated rear brake allows for smooth stops.

Since the pair of 12-volt batteries are good for 45 minutes of continuous riding, before slowing during the last 5 minutes of charge and ride time, it’s good for any trips around the neighborhood in a several mile radius. It can take up to ten hours to fully recharge the battery power, so you need to be sure to allow for these figures when riding.

More Freedom for Teenagers and Parents

Because it is safe to ride at speeds up to 12 mile per hour, it allows teenagers the freedom to go visit friends or after school activities, without depending on parents to transport them in cars giving more freedom in schedules for parents and kids alike.

Because Razor electric scooters take no gas to operate, they are safe for the environment, and easily recharged for minimal electrical cost from a household outlet. When looking for a great gift, that is fun and practical, consider the Razor E200 Scooters one of the most affordable choices.

For more information about the Razor e200 Scooters, go to http://www.RazorE200.com

Powerball is a new, addictive, multi-facetted device that is spreading across the world and it may just end up rivalling the Rubik cube! It’s a handheld device that can be used in a fitness, sports, rehabilitation or fun manner. It can be used by anyone from young children to old aged pensioners due to it’s dynamic, non-impact nature. This article will explore what Powerball is and how it does it’s magic.

Powerball is a handheld gyroscope device that is roughly the same size as a Baseball or Tennis Ball, being 7cm in diameter and weighing about 0.26 kg. The “ball” consists of a plastic outer casing, often with a rubber grip around the centre. Inside there is a finely engineered and precision crafted gyro with a rotor that spins rapidly once the device has been started either by a rip cord or electronic starter. This all sounds very high tech, but it is a very clever piece of applied science using the theory behind gyroscopes and the principle of precession.

The basic theory centres around how gyroscopes act on the environment around them. Once a gyroscope has started, then it asserts a centrifugal force and inertia on objects in contact with it. When the gyro is spinning, a tipping action will cause it to precess and move in a circular fashion. The inside of the device is grooved near the axle, so with an externally applied force, the axle will push against the rim. The gyroscope will respond with a rolling action and the speed of the rotation will increase. You use your wrist in a circular motion to generate the force to continually increase the speed, which in turn acts with a greater resistive force against your body.

The Powerball (or hand held gyroscope) is a truly dynamic object, there are no batteries and no electricity used, unless you have a model with a rpm counter. Using the theory above, you rotate the powerball with a circular wrist motion in either a clockwise or anticlockwise manner, it’s works in both directions. As you gently build up the speed, measured in revolutions per minute (rpm) the greater the torsion and dynamic forces acting upon your wrist, lower and upper arm muscles, depending on the arm orientation and direction of spin. With practice, speeds in access of 15,000 rpm’s can be generated.

There are a number of different uses for the powerball that result in effective non impact exercise and it can be used by anyone with hands big enough to grip it. Due to the dynamic nature of the device, the force achieved from the device is only ever as much as the person using it. Therefore the device is useful for increasing finger, hand, wrist and arm strength as well as increasing blood flow and ligament strength. This means the powerball can be used in a rehabilitation manner for arm and wrist injuries or to help with Repetitive Strain Injuries. It can used in a fitness way to build muscle or for exercise and in a sports manner to build strength for certain sports, such as golf, tennis, baseball or any sport that demands powerful grip and strong arms. You can even use it for fun, having competitions between friends, family or work mates to see who can get the highest score.

As you can probably tell by now the Powerball is a dynamic handheld device. They have many benefits for the hands, wrists and arms being able to increase muscle strength and definition. They can be used as rehabilitation devices and help with repetitive strain injury for the young to the old. Powerball’s are rapidly gaining a reputation as being fun, multi facetted exercise device that can be used by people from any walk of life and in a multitude of situations.

Matthew Insell is an IT Professional and an avid Baseball & Softball Fan.
